The Definitive Guide To Beach Clubs in Tulum
Entrance into Vagalume Beach Club on Tulum Beach
Our Selection of The Best Beach Clubs in Tulum
Tulum isn’t what it was ten years ago. The once-sleepy beach town has evolved into a design-forward destination where the aesthetic is as alluring as the cocktail lists, all thatched rooftops, sun-bleached loungers, and palm-fringed streets.
Much of Tulum’s transformation has been shaped by the influx of nomadic creatives and modern mystics, artists, healers, and digital wanderers who’ve brought their rituals, sensibilities, and slow-living mindset to the coastline. Their influence is everywhere, in the menus, the mezcal bars, and the incense smoke curling from beachfront altars. This is a destination defined by contrasts, days of debauchery followed by weekends of sunrise yoga, sound healing, and vegan smoothie bowls. And yes, the term “acid jazz” is sometimes quite literal.
After a very serious two-month investigation (and more mezcal than we care to admit), we’ve narrowed down the top 12 beach clubs in Tulum. These are the spots with proper food, strong drinks, a good crowd and some decent atmosphere.
Be prepared to put some damage to your credit cards, Tulum is not cheap, but the memories will be worth it.

What to Know About Beach Clubs in Tulum Before You Go
Located in Mexico, facing the Caribbean sea is Tulum. A bohemian paradise built along the turquoise waters of the Riveria Maya, with white-sand beaches lined by boutique hotels. Many of the most popular day clubs along Tulum's hotel zone play host to events throughout the week. An eclectic array of events offers something for everyone, from live music like jazz being played above the treetops to international DJs on the beach playing house music into the early hours.
Almost all of the day clubs can be found along the main Tulum beach road, amongst the hotels. This long stretch of beach is about 10 minutes from Tulum Centro. While seemingly close to the Downtown area, it is regularly plagued by traffic issues. If you are traveling here by car, make sure you factor in up to 30 minutes of travel time.
Some points to note for planning your day:
The beach is surprisingly sprawling, it takes about 2 hours to walk from end to end
Taxis are expensive in the beach zone, they can cost up to 600 pesos to go from Playa Paraiso to the middle beach zone
Having an entrance fee or minimum spend is very common at Tulum beach clubs and bars, usually, the minimum spend ranges from $50 USD to $100 USD but can be used to buy food and drinks at the venue.
There is a seaweed season that might impact the beaches from March - September, if you go over this period we recommend opting for a day club with a pool
There are dress codes at some of the beach clubs, check the club's website prior to arriving. Or read our article for outfit ideas - Tulum packing list, so you can arrive at the beach clubs in style.
Bagatelle Beach Club
1. Bagatelle
Vibe: Rosé-fuelled decadence with serious Côte d’Azur attitude
Regular globetrotters will be familiar with the Bagatelle name, with over 14 established venues in high-end holiday hotspots. Bagatelle Tulum continues the brand’s tradition of bringing French joie de vivre to the planet’s most enviable coastlines.
The décor channels a polished Côte d’Azur sensibility, with whitewashed rattan and crisp linen layered between textural accents that have become synonymous with Tulum interiors; raw timber, thatched palapas, macramé details, and rope elements. It’s both transportive and on-trend.
By day, guests drift between linen-draped loungers and shady cabanas, pausing for a round of oysters or a splash of champagne. By dusk, the energy shifts, cocktails at golden hour, DJs spinning poolside, and the occasional impromptu fashion show.
Bagatelle Tulum is as much about the scene as it is about the seafood. Executive Chef Marco Estrada, whose résumé includes Parisian heavyweights like Hotel Plaza Athenée and Hotel de Paris in Monte Carlo, oversees a menu that blends regional Mexican ingredients with French technique. Highlights include Sinaloa shrimp carpaccio, truffled "Del Plin" ravioli, and grilled lobster fettuccine in saffron shellfish broth.
Best Day to Visit: Sundays for the Wonderland Brunch (12–7pm), though the party often rolls through to dinner.
Must try: The Bagatelle Tuna Tartare and grilled lobster fettuccine with saffron broth
Opening Hours: Beach Club daily 11am–7pm, Dinner 7pm–1am
Address: Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila Km. 8, 77760 Tulum Beach, Q.R., Mexico
Phone: +52 984 182 4701
Gitano Beach Club, Image: Courtesy of GRUPO GITANO
2. Gitano Beach
Vibe: Campy barefoot disco with a side of scene
The new Gitano Beach trades the jungle for endless stretches of sand, bringing its signature gypset glamour to the sun-drenched coastline at the south end of Tulum Beach. Think disco balls glinting in the sunlight, oversized daybeds, and a stylish crowd that knows how to make an entrance.
Gitano is an internationally recognised hospitality brand with a handful of Tulum locations, and its beach club is one of the best. The expanded venue now includes Casa Gitano, a welcome retreat for those who end up staying longer than planned (read: everyone).
Famed for its campy charm, signature pink neon, and a DJ lineup that keeps the vibes high from lunch till late, Gitano Beach doesn’t take itself too seriously, and that’s precisely the appeal. Mezcal margaritas flow freely, fuelling glitter-slicked dancing as the sun dips low. The décor leans into flamboyant fun with just enough tropical touches to remind you where you are.
The events calendar skews eccentric in the best way, so keep an eye on their Instagram, whether it’s a surprise DJ set or a full moon gathering, the FOMO is real.
Best Day to Visit: Saturdays and Sundays for their sunset fiestas and weekly beach BBQ
Must try: Grilled octopus or crispy fish tacos with one of Gitano’s signature mezcal cocktails
Address: Av Boca Paila KM 9.5, Tulum Beach, Zona Costera, 77780 Tulum, Q.R., Mexico
Phone: Online bookings preferred

3. Distrito Panamera
Vibe: Retro Riviera cool meets art-school energy
Design is central to the experience at Distrito Panamera, vintage umbrellas, sun-worn textures, and the now-iconic red and white checkered pool set the tone. A beach club where aesthetics lead the way, from candlelit cinema nights to impromptu spritz hours. With mid-century silhouettes, striped loungers, and that hazy, golden light that always seems to arrive just in time for aperitivo.
Distrito Panamera doesn’t differentiate much between its beach club, rooftop, or restaurant, it’s all part of the same beautifully crafted experience. Come for the design, stay for the feeling that you might just be in a Slim Aarons photograph (if Slim served mezcal and played Bad Bunny).
Their menu blends Yucatecan tradition with creative coastal twists like grilled octopus, ceviches, and their iconic Lobster Panamera. Behind the bar, the mezcal list runs deep, and the cocktails, like the Piña Kush with aquafaba and pineapple compote, are as pretty as they are punchy.
Best Time To Go: Arrive Wednesday afternoon and stay for the Sunrise Club (6:30pm) and Cinema Panamera (from 8pm)
Must-Try: The Lobster Panamera
Address: Ejido Jose Maria, Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila, Pino Suárez KM 8.5, 77760 Tulum, Q.R., Mexico

4. Nomade Tulum
Vibe: Earthy, introspective, and casually divine
Tucked into the quieter southern stretch of Tulum Beach, Nomade feels more like a retreat than a traditional beach club. Here you'll find barefoot wellness fanatics waiting for full moon ceremonies and enjoying slow lunches in linen kaftans.
The scene is soulful but never saccharine, incense drifting from hand-carved altars, Moroccan rugs underfoot, and ambient playlists that move between tribal beats and acoustic daydreams. Nomade’s beachfront restaurant, La Popular, serves up wood-fired seafood, vibrant ceviches, and mezcal-forward cocktails designed for languid afternoons.
Nomade draws in a more reflective crowd, those looking for something a little more grounding than bottle service. Yet it never feels dull. There’s a quiet buzz that builds with the tide, and by sunset, the beach hums with interesting conversations.
Best Day to Visit: Late Friday afternoon into sunset, when the mood softens and the beats slow down
Must try: The whole grilled catch of the day paired with a tamarind mezcal cocktail
Address: Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila Km 10.5, Tulum Beach, Zona Hotelera, 77760 Tulum, Q.R., Mexico
Phone: Reservations via the Nomade website
Image: Vagalume Beach Club
5. Vagalume
Vibe: Burning Man beachfront cabaret
Vagalume is where things start to get surreal. Cross a wooden bridge held up by giant hands, only to find yourself in a beachfront fever dream of flame shows, acrobats, and champagne parades. If Studio 54 had a baby with a Tulum wellness retreat, this would be it.
It’s hard to tell what’s more impressive, the decor, the crowd, or the theatrics. Boho lounges spill onto white sand, earthy textures are offset by flashes of gold, and somewhere between your second drink and your third dance break, someone in sequins might start spinning fire. That’s just how things go here.
The beach club menu keeps up with the visual spectacle, with dishes like grilled octopus, oysters on ice, and a standout slow-cooked beef brisket served with charred pineapple salsa and roasted heirloom carrots. Service is polished, the cocktails strong, and the soundtrack, equal parts tribal house and Balearic beat, builds steadily toward a dance-floor crescendo.
Best Day to Visit: Friday or Saturday afternoons when the energy builds into a dusk-to-dark spectacle
Must try: Slow-cooked beef brisket with charred pineapple salsa
Address: Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila Km 8.5, Zona Hotelera, Tulum, Q.R., Mexico
Phone: Reservations recommended via their website

6. Mare'Zia Beach Club by BE Tulum
Vibe: Namaste here
Tucked inside the celebrated BE Tulum Hotel, you won't find any bottle-popping theatrics at Mare'Zia Beach Club. Just the ever-present soundtrack of beach waves, low-slung loungers, and a crowd that looks like they just stepped out of a Toteme campaign.
The design is pared-back but exacting, whitewashed stone, raw textures, rattan details, and earth-toned linens that nod to its location, without veering into cliché. Everything is framed by swaying palms, naturally.
The food leans Mediterranean with a Tulum twist, grilled branzino, heirloom tomato salads, and seafood pastas alongside a few local favourites. It’s all refreshingly unfussy, served in breezy kaftan-friendly style. Pair it with a chilled glass of rosé or one of their herbal mezcal infusions and you’ve got yourself a long, languorous lunch disguised as wellness.
Mare'Zia isn’t trying to be the next hotspot, it’s more of a hidden sanctuary. Come here to tune out the noise and sink into serenity.
Best Day to Visit: Tuesday or Thursday for a more serene, grown-up crowd
Must try: Grilled branzino with citrus fennel salad
Address: Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila Km 10, Zona Hotelera, 77780 Tulum, Q.R., Mexico
Phone: +52 984 980 0640
Images: La Zebra Hotel and Beach Club
7. La Zebra Beach Club
Vibe: Welcoming and relaxed
La Zebra manages to do what many Tulum beach clubs try (and fail) to achieve. Striking the perfect balance between laid-back and lively. It’s stylish without being over-styled, and always welcoming. Think mezcal cocktails with real kick, fish al pastor tacos with roasted pineapple and habanero aioli, and a classic shrimp aguachile that tastes like it came straight from the sea. Bonus points for house-made tortillas and the kind of guacamole that ruins you for all others.
The crowd is an easy mix of local creatives, well-traveled families, and low-key cool kids who know that salsa night is the real Tulum nightlife MVP. (it’s every Sunday) They also run cooking classes, so yes, you can learn how to make that unforgettable taco you had at lunch.
If you're staying at the on-site hotel (one of our absolute favorites), you’ve really won the weekend. Wake up to the sound of the sea, wander barefoot to your sun lounger, and let the day unfold however it pleases. At La Zebra, everything is just a little more relaxed, and a little more real.
Don’t miss the Mulberry Project pop-up bar, known for its bespoke cocktail experience. There’s no menu, just tell the bartender your vibe and they’ll dream something up with seasonal ingredients and a serious flair for flavour.
Best Day to Visit: Sunday for salsa night, or a midweek escape when the beach is quieter
Must try: Shrimp aguachile and fish al pastor tacos with a mezcal margarita
Address: Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila Km 8.2, Zona Hotelera, 77780 Tulum, Q.R., Mexico
Phone: +52 984 115 4726
Kanan Beach Club, Image: Expedia
8. Kanan Beach Club
Vibe: Giligans Island with a touch of hedonism
Perched above the palms on the south end of the Hotel Zone, this adults-only stunner is pure Tulum fantasy. A labyrinth of treehouse daybeds, rope bridges, candlelit decks, and wind-swept linens. It feels part Neverland, part fashion editorial, and goes all-in on the beachside vibes.
By day, you'll find an array of the beach club's sculptural loungers lining the sand. But Kanan truly comes alive after dark. When the candles are lit and the moon’s overhead, dining in one of the property’s iconic tree huts is nothing short of magic. It’s one of our favourite dinner spots in all of Tulum’s Hotel Zone, romantic, cinematic, and just a little bit wild.
The drinks deserve their own spotlight. You can’t go past the cocktails at Kanan, start with the Balam Ha’ tequila cocktail and thank us later. The music is mellow but never boring, the crowd is dressed like they wandered out of a Saint Laurent campaign, and the whole thing feels like Tulum distilled, beautiful, untamed, and unapologetically elaborate.
Best Time to Visit: Book a late lunch and stay through dinner in the tree huts
Must try: Balam Ha’ tequila cocktail
Address: Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila Km 8.5, Zona Hotelera, 77780 Tulum, Q.R., Mexico
Phone: +52 984 233 787
Ziggy’s Beach Club, Image: Expedia
9. Ziggy's Beach Club
Vibe: Classic Mexican-Caribbean Beach Club
Ziggy’s is your antidote to the EDM-and-espresso-martini crowd. A longtime favourite with Tulum regulars, it brings you back to the golden days—before influencer tripods hit the sand. It’s calm, classic, and crowd-free (if you get there early enough to snag a daybed).
Expect shaded loungers, acoustic sets in the afternoons, and mezcalitas that don’t mess around. The staff are lovely in that effortless, “you’re-a-regular-now” way, and the spacious layout means you’ll actually have room to stretch out, not just sip and scroll.
Design-wise, it’s all swaying palms, soft white sand, and the turquoise Caribbean right at your feet. Ziggy’s manages to offer comfort without losing its connection to nature, which is exactly why people keep coming back.
Stick around for sunset when the live music kicks in, sax, salsa, reggae, and other Caribbean rhythms that work perfectly with something grilled and a citrusy cocktail. And if you're in town on a Tuesday, don’t miss their tequila and mezcal tasting sessions at 6pm.
Try the Chilorio Gorditas or Arrachera Tacos, with a cocktail list that rewards the classics. But take note, Ziggy’s keeps things intentionally low-key, which means space is limited and many loungers are reserved for hotel guests. It’s best to book ahead or arrive early to avoid missing out.
And if Ziggy’s is booked, head to La Zebra for similar low-key beach bar vibes and the always-excellent Mulberry Project cocktail collab.
Best Time to Visit: Weekdays if you want to secure a prime lounger (hotel guests get first dibs)
Must try: Chilorio Gorditas or Arrachera Tacos with a fresh coconut margarita
Address: Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila Km 7.5, Tulum Beach, 77766 Tulum, Q.R., Mexico
Phone: +52 984 157 4069
Tantra Day Club
10. Tantra
Vibe: Debauchery with a boho-chic façade
Tantra is not here for a wholesome beach day, and that’s precisely the point. Created by Grupo RosaNegra (the same team behind Taboo, just next door), this is where champagne showers meet tribal house beats, and swimwear is scant.
Cascading plunge pools, swinging daybeds, and shaded bohemian lounges make up the layout, but don’t be fooled by the rustic rope and rattan aesthetic, Tantra runs on bottle service, sparklers, and a party crowd that treats Friday like a religion. Come dressed to impress (or barely dressed), and expect a revolving door of stag parties, honeymooners, and high-heeled hedonists living out their Riviera Maya fantasy.
It's chaotic in a good way, and if you’re coming to party, a Poolside Cabana or Beach Cabana is your golden ticket. Skip the line, bypass the bar, and get straight to the good stuff.
Best Time to Visit: Fridays from early afternoon. Arrive before 3pm to lock in the best loungers.
Must try: The Futomaki roll with spicy tuna or the Hamachi yellow aguachile, both surprisingly excellent for a party-first spot
Address: Carr. Tulum-Boca Paila Km 7, Tulum Beach, Zona Hotelera, 77780 Tulum, Q.R., Mexico
Phone: +52 (998) 173 8691
Images: Ahau Beach Club
11. Ahau Tulum
Vibe: Slow mornings, artful afternoons
Ahau Beach Club, the relaxed sister of Kanan, proudly showcases the iconic Ven a la Luz statue and houses a temple devoted to music, art, and radical self-expression. It's a free-spirited haven where coconut margaritas flow, and bohemian ideals are encouraged.
Days here are breezy. You’ll find a chilled crowd lounging beneath palm frond palapas, recharging between yoga sessions or wandering in from sound baths and ceremony circles. But don’t mistake the mellow vibe for basic, Ahau’s culinary game is quietly strong.
The Ceviche del Pacífico is a standout, tuna, shrimp, octopus, and carne seca all meet in a zesty bath of clamato, avocado, and fresh herbs. For something heartier, the Tempura Shrimp Tacos with sweet-and-sour chipotle sauce deliver a flavour punch that pairs beautifully with one of their herbal mezcal cocktails. And if you’re feeling mystical, the Ven a la Luz cocktail (charred guava, chamomile tea, St. Germain) is a nod to the statue out front and a sip-worthy homage to Tulum's wild side.
Best Time to Visit: Late afternoons for live music and golden hour magic
Must try: The Ceviche del Pacífico with a Ven a la Luz mezcal cocktail
Address: Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila Km 7.5, Zona Hotelera, Tulum Beach, 77780 Q.R., Mexico
Image: Mia Beach Club, Tulum
12. Mia
Vibe: Easygoing escapism
Tucked inside the Selina Hotel, Mia Beach Club offers the full Tulum toolkit, beach loungers, a shaded pool, rotating DJ sets, and plenty of fresh fruit cocktails to keep things mellow until golden hour. It’s one of the larger beach clubs on the strip, making it ideal for groups, wedding crews, and anyone planning a bachelorette.
The Selina crowd brings a youthful, international energy (writers on sabbatical and startup founders “working remotely”), while the Mia team keeps things polished behind the scenes with on-site event planners and a full-service bar and kitchen.
Mia doesn’t try to be the trendiest or the flashiest, and that’s exactly why it works. It’s the kind of place where you can spend an entire day horizontal, going between pool dips and beach swims, with a spritz in hand, and house beats humming in the background. Stay late on Sundays for a proper sendoff, when things ramp up just enough to feel like a finale.
Best Time to Visit: Sundays for mellow music and a crowd that’s still glowing from the weekend
Must Try: Arrive early for the fruit bowl with granola and yogurt, or go in on a spicy tuna tostada with a cold beer once the sun’s overhead
Address: Carretera Tulum-Boca Paila Km 7.5, Tulum Beach, Zona Hotelera, 77780 Tulum, Q.R., Mexico
Phone: +52 984 249 3380
Nightclubs In Tulum
Many of the beach clubs listed above also extend into the evening, but if you are looking for something that stays open a little later you can try Papaya Playa Project which hosts regular full moon parties on Friday nights and Saturday nights.
Another great place to go is Casa Jaguar, found on the jungle side of the road in the middle beach zone. We recommend this spot if it's your first time in Riviera Maya as it's one of the best bars in Tulum and will usually have a live band playing into the early hours of the morning on Tuesday nights and Thursday night.
Alternatively, if you want a serious clubbing scene head to Playa Del Carmen or check out one of the jungle parties.
